KINVARA SKINCARE: POWERED BY PLANTS

I have always been infatuated by plants, herbs and flowers. Growing up in a home where we grow our own vegetables; each meal was lovingly curated and garnished with plants from my parents’ garden. It was commonplace to pick strawberries in the summer and mint leaves for a soothing after dinner tea. My upbringing focused on the power of plants and natural products and this love for healing ingredients still informs my choices today. When Kinvara Skincare asked me to partner with them on their July Hyaluronic Heroes campaign I couldn’t think of a skincare company better suited to my personal values.

“this morning

I told the flowers

what I’d do for you

and they blossomed”

Rupi Kaur,

Inspired by the power of plants and experiences with herbal medicine during expeditions to Sumatra, Dr. Joanne Reilly created her award winning brand Kinvara Skincare in 2013. This free-from clean skincare experts have created a completely vegan range which was something that was so important for me when agreeing to work on this campaign. Joanne created all her own plant-based skincare formulas from her kitchen in Galway, Ireland after years of being frustrated with what was available on the high street for her tricky skin. I love the uncomplicated, easy-to-use nature of the products and I was especially impressed with the attention to detail in the ingredients; every product is carefully curated with each ingredient chosen for their specific benefits.

The Active Rosehip Day Cream is a favourite of mine and I always love to give it as a gift because it’s so soothing and lasts for a really long time. One tub lasts approximately four months, and it works as both a day and night cream. It leaves my skin feeling like velvet, absorbs to a prime-matt finish and works really well as a base under makeup so It fits effortlessly into my daily routine whether I’m going make-up free or not (you can apply it to cleansed skin, on its own or layered over the Youth Boost Serum). As for ingredients, there is Vitamin E which is a super antioxidant, and it also contains Hyaluronic Acid and Omega rich plant oils to help plump your skin.

Even though the Active Rosehip Day Cream fought for my place at number one, the Eye Wow! Eye Serum is a strong contender for my favourite product, although I’ve yet to try the Absolute Cleansing Oil and I hear it is remarkable. Over the last week we had a heatwave here in Ireland and there was nothing more refreshing than taking it from the fridge and rolling the cooling cucumber and baobab under my eyes, it one hundred percent was my skin hero this July! Immediately the cold pressed plant oil blend soothed my skin and left me feeling refreshed. This bottle contains cedarwood extract which specifically combats the appearance of dark circles and reduces under-eye puffiness. I absolutely adored this product and will definitely be recommending it in the future.

The third Hyaluronic Hero I tried on my skin was the Hyaluronic Youth Boost. Fine lines and wrinkles aren’t something I am particularly concerned with adjusting but I know many people love when a product gives these results and I am happy to say this does exactly that. Dry, oily, combination and tricky skin can all benefit from hyaluronic acid’s natural plumping and healing properties, using a pea size amount, pat it into the area, let it dry and then apply the Active Rosehip Day Cream. For me though the winning ingredient in this is the super food properties of Turmeric, I have always found turmeric to be really good for my body and I was delighted to see it at home in this product working its magic.

This month was a massive one for me with regards to learning about my own skin and what it loves. The benefits of developing a skincare routine has not only positively impacted my body, but also my mind. I realised that committing to nourishing myself with these cruelty free, vegan and plant-based products allowed me to take time out for myself every morning and evening, no matter how busy my day had been. It also provided me with a way to reconnect with my family garden which I’m eager to visit as soon as I can. The gentle, cleansing and natural ingredients and scents in each product continuously evoke feelings of comfort, healing and love. I am reminded of my Mam picking the rosemary she and Dad planted in the garden, and the smell of fresh plants that hold a history of healing in their roots.

For this, and so many other reasons it was truly a wonderful and soothing process to collaborate with Kinvara Skincare. They care deeply about how the formulas they create make you feel, it is evident that a lot of knowledge, time, love and dedication goes into this brand and I am honoured to partner with them. If you would like to treat yourself to these plant powered goodies or give a gift to someone you love, Kinvara Skincare have very kindly given me a code for you to get 20% off across their entire site until the end of July 2021 just use: Erin at the checkout.
