A GALWAY SATURDAY SPENT IN THE PRESENT WITH VEO WORLD
There is nothing like a Saturday in Galway city. The bustling, buskers and sounds of laughter pouring through the streets while simultaneously warm coffee pours into cups. Salthill seas swimmers make their way into town to warm up and dogs sniff corners and stretch out under shop front tables. Thrifters slide the rails in local Charity shops looking for the next fit, Cafes welcome their regulars for weekend comforts, and the lined walls of Charlie Byrne’s bookstore welcomes those who want to escape into another world entirely. Around the corner, St. Nicholas Market is swirling and breathing life into the city; sellers from far and wide bring their goods for us to marvel, the usual characters bartering, laughing and wishing well for the week ahead. Organic vegetables are lovingly swaddled in canvas tote bags, with fresh baked bread tucked warm under its new lovers arm. Walking on those cobbles is like rooting yourself through the generations of people who have passed through before. Down narrow streets more music hums as glasses clink and glimmer in the sun, soaking up the last drops of a previous rain shower.
When I first moved to Galway, I worked a wonderful Saturday job on Quay street, and the happiness it brought me to be surrounded by these sights and sounds, was immeasurable. It is for this reason why to this day a Saturday mooch about town is one of my favourite things to do, usually in the early morning into afternoon when everything is starting to move. I love picking up my market foods, grabbing a hot drink from one of my favourite cafes, collecting our cupcakes at Vegano Deli for the evening and grabbing some TGO chips to sit by the river with. It is this energy, kindness, familiarity with the local community and crafters, this true sense of belonging and deep connection to nature, that makes Galway my perfect home.
Home is something VEO knows everything about; especially what it takes to create a life, space, and home that is nourishing, loving and kind to the planet. Sustainability is absolutely central to their ethos and I’m so delighted to partner with this incredible vegan brand. VEO is the sustainable market place. It is an immersive lifestyle platform, bringing you the most unique, independent sustainable brands in Fashion, Beauty, Food and Home.
My gorgeous box of home inspired gifts are truly beautiful and just like everything they offer there is feeling, thought and future thought behind its curation. Veo offers kind, healthy and sustainable choices across their marketplace so you can feel confident that you are purchasing and supporting brands that have met strict criteria. There are some truly gorgeous things available on VEO, from vegan handbags to delicious food and drink, I have spent the last hour dreaming up my wish list. I was fortunate enough to get some dreamy sustainable pieces; this Ubiety candle for my morning meditation and yoga, gorgeous Tabitha Eve market bag, the gentlest Delphis hand sanitiser and a collection of beautiful sustainably packaged Eco cleaning products from Mix. First impressions and use of these products has brought me so much joy. The Ubiety candle is absolutely gorgeous and really breathes a gentle aroma into my home each morning; I love how natural and safe the ingredients are and I will definitely be looking to add a few more of these to my home. The Delphis sanitiser is foaming with a natural scent and it comes in completely recycled packaging. This product is a lovely one to keep at the kitchen sink but you can also pop it in your bag like I did, plus it leaves your skin feeling super soft. I will be trying all the Mix cleaning products over the month of August but I am absolutely amazed by the innovation, sustainability and consideration behind this range, it is definitely a great solution to harsh disposable plastic cleaning products in our homes. And, my market bag? Well I think from the photos you can clearly see the incredible joy this Tabitha Eve GOTS certified organic cotton bag brings me.
I will be showing all of these gorgeous pieces off on my Instagram stories in more detail and I would love to know which products on the Veo world marketplace stand out to you. Speaking of markets, I hope you love this snapshot of me using my bag in Galway’s St. Nicholas Market, I adored bringing two sustainable markets that care about people, planet and community together. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and that wherever you are, feels like home.
